Train Your Pelvic Floor with the Alonea PelvicTool

How the Pelvic Floor Training Device Works

How Does the Alonea PelvicTool Work?

The PelvicTool by Alonea operates based on the biofeedback principle: A highly sensitive sensor detects even the smallest movements of the pelvic floor muscles and transmits the signal to the PelvicTool App, where muscle activity can be monitored in real time.

With a variety of training programs, you will learn to better control your pelvic floor, thereby supporting the function of your bowel and bladder as well as enhancing your sexual well-being. The playful handling of the pelvic floor trainer is extremely simple yet highly effective.

Pelvic Floor Muscles: Why Training Is So Important

What Is the Pelvic Floor?

  • The pelvic floor refers to the lower closure of the abdominal cavity within the bony pelvis.
  • It is formed by the pelvic floor muscles, which, along with their tendons and fascia, connect the bones of the pubic bone, coccyx, and both sitting bones like a basket.
  • Within this basket, the pelvic organs such as the bladder, rectum, and uterus (or prostate in men) are securely held.
  • The muscle layer contains openings for the rectum, urethra, and vagina.
  • The pelvic floor muscles are located closest to the body’s surface in the perineal area: in women, between the anus and vagina; in men, between the anus and scrotum.

What Is the Function of the Pelvic Floor?

  • The pelvic floor muscles support the function of the sphincter muscles of the anus and urethra.
  • Contracting these muscles prevents urine leakage when abdominal pressure increases, such as during coughing, sneezing, laughing, jumping, or lifting.
  • Relaxing them aids in bowel movements and urination.
  • Additionally, the pelvic floor plays an important role in pleasurable sexual intercourse and childbirth.

When Is Pelvic Floor Training Beneficial?

“Although I could no longer feel my pelvic floor muscles after a radical prostatectomy, with the help of the PelvicTool, I learned how to control my pelvic floor muscles and relieve my incontinence symptoms. Seeing the progress in the app motivated me to keep going.”

U. Rosendahl Huber

How Can You Train the Pelvic Floor Muscles?

  • Like all other muscle groups, the pelvic floor muscles can be trained through targeted contraction and relaxation.
  • However, unlike the abs or biceps, they are hidden within the body and not as easily identifiable in their function—so learning to activate them specifically takes practice.
  • The pelvic floor can be engaged by trying to pull the perineum inward.
  • The Kegel exercise, a classic pelvic floor training method, is commonly used for women. One example involves inserting a vaginal cone or vaginal balls into the vagina to help improve awareness of local muscle contractions.
  • A major advancement is biofeedback devices like the PelvicTool by Alonea. These are suitable for men and children as well and function without direct internal contact—meaning pelvic floor training can be performed while sitting on the device in light training clothing. These devices are a breakthrough in significantly improving the quality of life for many patients.

Train Your Pelvic Floor with the PelvicTool:

The Functional Principle in 4 Steps

  • The PelvicTool is a Swiss quality product that makes pelvic floor training simple and effective.
  • Its core component is the Sensortube, made of soft, skin-friendly silicone, containing a hollow chamber filled with food-grade oil. The turquoise-colored cylinder can be detached from the anatomically shaped seat cushion for charging (via USB with the included charger) and cleaning.
  • A highly sensitive sensor measures the pressure in the oil and converts it into an electronic signal. This signal is low-energy, similar to headphones, and therefore completely safe.
  • The signal is transmitted via Bluetooth to the PelvicTool App on a smartphone or tablet.
  • The PelvicTool App displays these pressure changes in real time, allowing you to monitor the contraction and relaxation of your pelvic floor muscles live on the screen.

Step 1: Turning on the PelvicTool

  • To ensure correct and successful use, we recommend reading the included user manual.
  • A simple press on the Sensortube is enough to activate the PelvicTool from standby mode.
  • The app detects this activation and is immediately ready to receive. Note: Bluetooth must be enabled on the smartphone for this to work.

Step 2: Correct Placement on the Seat Cushion

  • The time, duration, and location of your training can be determined by you with the PelvicTool.
  • The exercises are intimate-free – you do not need to undress and can wear light workout clothes.
  • You will be sitting softly and comfortably on the anatomically shaped seat cushion.
  • For the exercises, it is important that the pelvic floor muscles are as close as possible to the Sensortube; only then will an optimal transfer of pressure changes be ensured. To do this, sit with the crease of your buttocks centered on the Sensortube.

Step 3: Calibration

  • Before each training session, a calibration is performed to ensure the device adjusts optimally to your pelvic floor muscles. During this process, you will briefly contract the pelvic floor three times so that the sensor can measure your current strength level. This ensures that the training is tailored to you and achieves the best possible results.
  • This contraction will appear on the display as a point moving upwards.

Step 4: Training the Pelvic Floor Muscles

  • When contracting the pelvic floor, the muscles tighten, which increases the pressure on the Sensortube. This intensifies the sensor signal, which is displayed accordingly in the PelvicTool app.
  • By relaxing, the pressure on the Sensortube decreases, and the sensor signal becomes weaker.

  • In the PelvicTool App, you will find varied workouts for strengthening the pelvic floor.
  • The training sessions promote not only activation but also relaxation of the pelvic floor.
  • The interface is simple and intuitive, so even seniors can quickly get the hang of it.
  • The training is engaging – you get immediate visual feedback, which significantly increases motivation.
  • With continued pelvic floor training, controlling the targeted contraction, holding, and relaxation improves steadily.
  • The training progress can be easily tracked in the PelvicTool app.
