The pelvic floor: our “love muscle

All too often the pelvic floor is associated with extremely unattractive conditions such as incontinence or impotence. However, it is appropriate to take a much more sympathetic view of the muscular plexus, because the pelvic floor plays a central role in our sexuality. That is why it is sometimes called the “love muscle”.

Better sex thanks to pelvic floor training?

A well trained pelvic floor musculature leads to a better blood circulation of the sexual organs in both sexes. This increases sexual sensitivity in both men and women: orgasms are perceived as more intense and more beautiful. But well trained pelvic floor muscles offer even more advantages during sex.

Therefore, it might be worth a try to look at the rather dull and boring sounding pelvic floor training as “sex gymnastics” to increase motivation. Whether man or woman, young or old: pelvic floor training increases pleasure and enables longer and better sex.

Why does a strong pelvic floor make sex better for women?

A well-trained pelvic floor leads not only to a more intense sensation but also to “mechanical” advantages during sex: this is mainly due to the fact that during sex the pelvic floor muscles tighten and the vagina narrows.

As a result, both the partner feels the woman more intensely and the woman feels her partner more intensely. Weak pelvic floor muscles, on the other hand, lead to weak contraction and thus less constriction of the vagina. The sexual partners no longer feel each other as strongly and sexual stimulation becomes more difficult.

“Breathing, digestion, sexuality, body statics are all rooted in one ground – the pelvic floor!”

Why does a strong pelvic floor in men make sex better?

The man also benefits when he exercises his pelvic floor. About one third of the male sex organ is located inside the body. This is how the penis is anchored in the body: at its rear end it is firmly enclosed by two muscles, the ischiocavernosus muscle and the bulbospongiosus muscle. These two muscles have an enormous importance for a stable erection, because they squeeze the penis tightly. It’s the only way to get the blood to back up in the penis and make it harder.

The above muscles are connected with the pelvic floor muscles. If there is no other damage to muscle cells, nerves or blood vessels, pelvic floor training can therefore help men in particular who can only hold their erection for a short time or whose erection is not firm enough for sex. Put another way: If the pelvic floor of the man is too weak, he will not be able to build a stable erection.

Use it or lose it

Erectile dysfunction takes away the pleasure of both partners. Here begins a vicious circle, because sex is a wonderful strengthening for the pelvic floor! The less sex a couple has, the less trained (unless other measures are taken) the pelvic floor is. And the more untrained the pelvic floor is, the more unstable the erection, and consequently the frustration during sex, etc. So the English saying “use it or lose it” does not only apply to the brain.

In the case of moderate erectile dysfunction, pelvic floor training can be the method of choice, because success can often be achieved with minimal resources and without any harmful side effects – in the long term. The “potency muscles” can be trained and strengthened like any other muscle with targeted exercises. Men without complaints therefore also benefit from pelvic floor training.

Efficient pelvic floor workout

The training is done sitting on the PelvicTool by tensing the pelvic floor, holding the tension and releasing the tension. Even small contractions affect the soft sensor tube and are displayed as a training result via the app on your smartphone or tablet.
