As a therapist, what do I need to bear in mind if the PelvicTool is used by different patients?

The PelvicTool pelvic floor training device is ideal for use in physiotherapy, as it is hygienic and easy to handle. Thanks to the playful and motivating exercises, it is very well received by patients.

A particular advantage is that the training is non-invasive and can easily be performed in normal clothing. Neither the seat nor the sensor tube come into contact with the skin. Therefore, it is sufficient to wipe the sensor tube with a damp cloth and some water and soap if necessary. If required by the clinical environment, we recommend standard disinfectants with a low alcohol content, such as the product Intima. As a therapist, you have the following options for using the PelvicTool pelvic floor training device with multiple patients:

1. Patient use of the app on their own phone or tablet:

The patient installs the PelvicTool app on their own phone or tablet and brings it to therapy. Before the first training session with the PelvicTool, you carry out your usual detailed physiotherapeutic assessment, e.g. a pelvic floor check-up, to optimally define the therapy goals. The training sessions can then be individually configured in the PelvicTool app. This way, your patient trains effectively towards the therapy goals indicated for them. The training data remain on the patient’s phone or tablet; no data are shared. At home, they train either with their own PelvicTool or with a rented one. Their progress is documented in the app. At the next therapy session, the patient brings their phone again, allowing you to review the progress together and adjust the training settings if required. This also helps to ease your therapy schedule. Important: In order for the same PelvicTool (seat with sensor tube) to be used by another patient, the previous user must “release” the device. This can be done by pressing the “Disconnect” button in the PelvicTool app, by temporarily deactivating and reactivating the Bluetooth function, or by completely closing the PelvicTool app. In addition, the connection is automatically terminated when the phone or tablet is outside Bluetooth range (approx. 100 m).

2. Use of the app in your practice or clinic

As a therapist, you download the PelvicTool app onto a tablet or smartphone in your practice. The app, particularly with the “Free Training” mode, is very well suited for initial perception training, as contractions are visible in real time within the app. If you configure individual settings for a patient, these must be reset before the next patient.

The Alonea PelvicTool helps you improve pelvic floor awareness, control, and strength.

I am a pelvic floor therapist and use the PelvicTool as a training aid. Can my patients influence the training results by “cheating”?
Patients who begin pelvic floor therapy are often already experiencing significant distress. The motivation to perform the training correctly is therefore high, and the risk of cheating through changes in position is correspondingly low.
